Proper preparation is key to a successful, comfortable, and safe laser hair reduction session. Here is exactly what you need to do.
4 Weeks Before: Stop Plucking and Waxing
The laser needs the hair root intact to target the follicle. Stop waxing, threading, plucking, or epilating at least 4 weeks before your session. Shaving is allowed and encouraged!
2 Weeks Before: Avoid the Sun
Laser cannot be performed on tanned skin (whether from the sun or self-tanner) due to the risk of burns and pigmentation. Stay out of the sun and wear SPF 50 daily.
24 Hours Before: Shave the Area
You must shave the treatment area 12 to 24 hours before your appointment. The skin should be smooth. If there is hair on the surface, the laser energy will burn the hair above the skin, causing pain and reducing effectiveness.
Day of Treatment: Bare Skin
Arrive with clean skin. Do not apply lotions, deodorants, perfumes, or makeup to the areas being treated. Wear loose, comfortable clothing to avoid friction after the session.
